ABOUT REFIK ANADOL STUDIO
EMBEDDING MEDIA ARTS INTO ARCHITECTURE WITH DATA AND MACHINE INTELLIGENCE

Established in 2014 by Refik Anadol, a pioneer in the aesthetics of data and machine intelligence, Refik Anadol Studio produces enthralling and immersive media art intended for anyone, any age and any background. The award-winning studio has been engaged by leading tech companies, groundbreaking researchers and cutting-edge thought leaders to produce projects that have been shown in over 50 cities, spanning six continents, and experienced by millions of ardent fans.

“As an ‘inventor’ of our time, able to bring the invisible into the visible through art grounded in neuroscience, you have honored Leonardo da Vinci’s legacy. The prize is a tribute in recognition of your breakthrough creative production resulting from an experimental and creative process combining new media, performance, visual arts and architecture. With experiential installations, you have engaged viewers in a play on perception triggering a rethinking of aesthetics while dissolving boundaries that constrain our imagination.”
– Lorenzo il Magnifico Lifetime Achievement Award for new media art given by the Florence Biennale

Refik Anadol Studio comprises artists, architects, data scientists, and researchers from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, embracing principles of inclusion and equity throughout every stage of production. Studio members originate from 10 different countries and are collectively fluent in 14 languages. The Studio’s internship program also demonstrates our strong commitment to mentoring young people from a variety of personal experiences, values, and world views.

“Anadol has catalogued the 100 archival years of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, transforming the information into a stunning visual celebration that brings the Walt Disney Concert Hall — the fantastical Frank Gehry-designed home of the orchestra — to vivid life. Anadol’s work exemplifies the cutting edge.”

“Infinite Space was the first major retrospective of works from Refik Anadol Studio exploring data sets ranging from human memories to photographs of Mars. The series of works which included an immersive space, infinity room, gallery and data tunnel invited visitors to open their senses to the endless possibilities at the intersection of man and machine.”
